Unlike the standard Inked cases the exterior is made of metal that Speck says a third-party confirmed does not impact the reception. After two weeks of use the iPhone 6 case is looks just like new and there is no change to the reception or battery life of the iPhone 6 while using the Speck CandyShell Inked Luxury case.

When I showed the two floral patterns Speck sent for review to my wife and sister the immediate reaction was, “Where do I get one?”

Inside the case is made of a soft rubber interior that grips the phone tightly. The rubber portion extends out to give a small gap between your screen and any surface you set it down on. This also helps with protection from drops. A plastic outershell delivers a dual layer of protection and then the metallic design is on top of that.

I love the look of these cases and the wrap-around design that carries over the design to all sides of the case. The soft rubber interior shows through the port openings and adds protection on the edges in colors that complement the overall look of the case. All the openings on the cases are large enough for cables, headphones and sound to pass through.

A Speck CandyShell Inked Luxury case is a little thicker than an official Apple iPhone 6 case, but it is not as thick as offerings from OtterBox or other rugged cases. While this adds a little thickness and weight to the case, I still consider this a slim or fashion iPhone 6 case. That’s not to say the CandyShell cases sacrifice protection for looks. In several years of use we’ve dropped a variety of phones in Speck CandyShell cases and they definitely offer good protection for the size and price.
