Sprint Announces Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE

Sprint added another Samsung Galaxy device to its 4G LTE smartphone lineup today in the form of the oft rumored Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE which will launch on September 16.

The device, which is a mid-range Android smartphone, will run on Sprint’s new 4G LTE network which is currently available in 19 markets across the United States. Sprint promised to add more than 100 markets by the end of 2012 so those who are currently without 4G LTE service right now, could have it by the end of the year.

In addition to 4G LTE data speeds, the Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE will bring some other solid features to the table including a 4-inch screen – same size as the iPhone 5’s, along with a a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and support for Google Wallet with NFC.

Sprint’s Galaxy Victory 4G LTE will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and Sprint makes no mention as to whether it will ever get the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the current Android operating system.

As for pricing, the Galaxy Victory 4G LTE is going to cost $100 on-contract, that price of coming after a mail-in rebate.

Obviously, this device is not going to appeal to those looking for a high-end smartphone like Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G LTE or Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but it certainly appears capable and will likely make for a solid choice for a teenage or someone who is going to be wielding a smartphone for the very first time.

Those interested in the Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE will be able to obtain one through all Sprint channels on September 16th, just five days before Sprint launches the iPhone 5 on its 4G LTE network.
