Sprint also announced that customers living in Washington, D.C., New York, and San Francisco are already beginning to see LTE service lit up in select areas. These cities haven’t been officially been announced for LTE coverage yet, but in my conversation with the carrier, Sprint says that it wants to make LTE available for customers in these areas as soon as possible so it is making LTE service accessible as soon as the towers are upgraded without waiting for an official launch.

With LTE service, Sprint is promising 6-8 Mbps download speeds and between 2-3 Mbps upload speeds. So far, in the pre-launch phase in San Francisco, California, I’ve seen speed tests reporting speeds between 10-20 Mbps with peaks as high as 40 Mbps.

The network will accommodate hot, new devices like the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, and the BlackBerry Q10 with LTE speeds when those devices become available.

You can read more about Sprint’s LTE network deployment and how the carrier’s Network Vision plans differ from other carriers in my earlier blog post.

Sprint has to be the dumbest carrier in the world. They have 7 markets listed as upcoming in Washington State, and all 7 markets combined don’t equal even half the population of Seattle. Yet no word on Seattle getting LTE.
