At the end of February, it appeared that the Sprint LG Optimus G Jelly Bean update was rolling out to owners. Several weeks ago, Optimus G owners started noticing an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean despite the fact that Sprint hadn’t yet announced the update’s roll out. Today, Sprint finally cleared up the confusion and announced the roll out for the Optimus G Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, an update that should hit all owners within the next 10 days.

The Sprint Optimus G is now on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Perhaps the previous roll out was part of a soak test because the Sprint Optimus G is now in the midst of a full on Jelly Bean roll out, taking the device from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich up to Android 4.1. This is big news for owners as Android 4.1 is a vast improvement over Android 4.0.

The Sprint update, in addition to likely bug fixes and enhancements, will be bringing along all of the features of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which include Google Now, improved Camera application, a smoother and faster user interface, a better stock keyboard and overhauled Calendar and Browser applications just to name a few of the upgrades.

Those who own a Sprint Optimus G will certainly want to update when it becomes available due to these enticing features. Those who haven’t been prompted yet will want to head into the device’s settings to manually check for the update. If the update is available and for some it likely will be, the phone will shoot out a prompt asking to download and install.

Once that is done, the device will reboot and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and all of its features will be on board Sprint’s Optimus G.

Grrr, I ran Jelly bean on my hacked EVO until it just wore out and I was forced to get a new phone. I picked the Optimus G because it was slated for the jelly bean update. This “tease” of a rollout has me so anxious. So many people saying they got it, but still nothing. I’m gonna wear out my check for update part of the screen LOL. I didn’t want to hack this phone but if they don’t give the goods within a few weeks I guess I have no choice. JB is such a sweet experience.. once you go Beans, you’ll never want another OS for your phone again. NOW definitely is sweet and their voice feature may not have SIRI”S idiotic sense of humor but it’s superior in so many other ways. Who needs a joke when you just want answers.
