Stunning iPhone 7 Concept Showcases Smart Display

Published

What will the iPhone 7 look like? It’s going to be a while before we know exactly what Apple plans for the iPhone 7, especially if the company sticks to the every other year cycle and releases the iPhone 6s in 2015.

That isn’t stopping us from dreaming about an iPhone 7 with a big display that is smaller in size than the iPhone 6, or about an iPhone 7 that includes an edge to edge screen with smart controls that change based on what you are doing.

A new set of iPhone 7 concept images show us two visions of what the iPhone 7 might look like. These are not iPhone 7 leaks from Apple, simply stunning concept images created to show what it could look like  if Apple went this direction.

At the current pace, the iPhone 7 release should arrive in 2016, roughly 18 months from now. Apple traditionally keeps the same overall iPhone design for two years. We should see a bigger emphasis on iOS 9 for the iPhone 6s release in 2015, if Apple sticks to the previous timing for new iPhones.

One of our favorite concept artists, Martin Hajek, is back with his first Phone 7 concepts created in collaboration with Business Insider. While you are still enjoying your iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, you’ll definitely want to lust or drool over these smart iPhone 7 concepts.

The first is an iPhone 7 with an edge to edge display that runs up to the top edge and down to the bottom edge, with cut outs for the speaker, camera and home button. This design places the shortcuts from the Control Center on the bottom part of the display while in normal use. This placement could take some getting used to, but it is hard to argue with faster access to the flashlight and a home button still provides a tactile spot to touch without activating any of the shortcuts.

What makes this smart, is the ability to change the shortcuts based on what you are doing. This would presumably be a feature of iOS 9 or iOS 10, allowing the iPhone to tailor the shortcuts to the app that you are in. In the iPhone 7 concept above, you see different shortcuts for a movie than on the home screen. It’s not hard to imagine the home screen icons changing to song controls for music or audiobooks.

An iPhone 7 display with holes in it looks a little unreasonable, but Sharp already developed a Free-Form display and it isn’t that much of a stretch to imagine that Apple will experiment with new designs like this in the many iPhone 7 prototypes it works through before settling on the new design it releases. It also doesn’t hurt the chances that an iPhone 7 release is likely more than a year away, giving the technology time to mature and for manufacturing issues to be worked out.

The second iPhone 7 concept is one that many people would love to see arrive in 2015. This keeps the same overall design as the iPhone 6, but narrows the edges and moves the speaker for calls up to allow for an iPhone 7 that is smaller than the iPhone 6, even with the similar size display. Check out the size comparison above, showing how this might work on the iPhone 7.

There are several other iPhone 7 concept images on Martin Hajek’s website showing his visions for how apple might deliver an iPhone 7.

There are already iPhone 7 rumors, suggesting the new iPhone will offer major camera improvements and as always there is a rumor of glasses free 3D. There is also a rumor that Apple could bring back a 4-inch screen for an iPhone 6c. At this stage the iPhone 6s rumors, talk of an iPhone 6c and iPhone 7 rumors are only taking shape and there will likely be a lot of conflicting information as we approach WWDC in 2015 where a new iOS reveal will likely happen and move towards fall where Apple traditionally announces new iPhones.

Oh my!! Here goes the Photoshop rumor mill again, gee how glitchy will iOS 9 2015 be?? Just like every year, I’ll just sit back and laugh and see all them apple faggots line up than see and hear all the new iPhone issues and complaints and cries for the jailbreak cause Apple users are limited
