SwiftKey 4.3 Keyboard Beta Brings Customization to any Screen Size

Published

on

SwiftKey, Android’s most popular keyboard replacement app, received an update for beta users today promising some big changes. Being described as “Layouts for Living,” the new SwiftKey 4.3 will allow users to completely customize the keyboard as they see fit. Finally making a keyboard that will adapt to any smartphone or tablet screen size.

With the varied screen sizes in Android from the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 to 10-inch tablets, SwiftKey will now let you completely customize the size, and location. Users can re-size the keyboard for one-handed use on the Note 3 smartphone, or relocate it to any side while typing away on their Android tablet.

Getting rid of the one size fits all idea of the past, SwiftKey has put the power in the users hands. From shrinking the keyboard down on a big screen, to offering any type of split view you’d like for those typing with both hands. SwiftKey has lead the charge with keyboard replacements on Android as of late, and this is one more addition to an already top-tier application.

“Allowing people to manipulate the location, size and layout of the keyboard not only makes it easier to type – it gives our users a more personalized way to interact with their technology and each other,” said co-founder and CTO Ben Medlock.

Back in August SwiftKey Cloud was announced with the option to sync history, settings, typing preference and learning all across multiple devices. Allowing a user to have the same experience on his/her smartphone and tablet both. Considering the keyboard learns from the user and has a powerful next-word suggestion engine.

Combining the cloud and now complete customization SwiftKey is a pretty compelling option for Android users, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon when it comes to adding more features. This update also blends the tablet and smartphone versions of SwiftKey into one, considering it works across all screen sizes. This is an open beta available to all.
