T-Mobile Vague on Galaxy S4 32GB Plans

Published

While Verizon has ruled out a Samsung Galaxy S4 32GB option in the future, T-Mobile remains undecided it seems as the carrier has refused to either confirm, nor deny, any plans to carry a Galaxy S4 with more internal storage in the future.

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 finally out on shelves in the United States, one of the burning questions left on the minds of consumers is in regards to the Samsung Galaxy S4 is whether the larger storage models will be making it stateside. Currently, the situation remains shrouded in mystery with only a few details coming to the surface.

The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 may never come in 32GB.

The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 may never come in 32GB.

We have confirmed that AT&T will indeed be carrying a 32GB Samsung Galaxy S4 in the future though it still won’t say when. We’ve also confirmed with Verizon that it has no plans to carry a 32GB Galaxy S4 in the days ahead, leaving consumers with a 16GB option only. We also reached out to the UnCarrier, T-Mobile, to see if it would be carrying larger options in the future and the answer was both good and bad.

When asked whether it would be carrying a 32GB or 64GB Galaxy S4 in the future, the carrier replied with an extremely vague response:

The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4 includes 16GB of internal memory with the option to expand memory up to 64GB with a MicroSD card, providing plenty of storage for movies, music, games and other application downloads.

In other words, it completely failed to answer the question that we and many others have been wondering about. Of course, this is a glass full, glass empty type of situation. It could be read as T-Mobile saying that its Galaxy S4 sports 16GB of storage and 16GB of storage only. Verizon, when it confirmed that it wouldn’t be carrying the 32GB model, used the microSD card slot as justification.

T-Mobile’s vague statement on the subject also can be interpreted to mean that the carrier hasn’t ruled anything out yet but also isn’t comfortable confirming anything either.

While we tend to lean towards the former, the fact remains that AT&T is planning to offer the 32GB which means that it’s still possible that other carriers might as well.

Still, without a confirmation, it’s at this point, impossible to say what T-Mobile’s plans might be. Again, it didn’t outright deny 32GB or 64GB options. It simply reaffirmed what we already knew, that it carries a 16GB model.

This has become a source of contention amongst current and future Galaxy S4 owners due to the fact that owners can utilize about half of the 16GB’s of internal storage from the get-go.

AT&T still hasn’t said when it will be releasing the 32GB Galaxy S4 but at this point, it remains the only U.S. carrier to have openly confirmed its plans to carry something other than the 16GB model.

You really should not be saying that Verizon has confirmed there will never be a 32 the S4 as you have yet to provide proof that Anyone higher than a rep told you that. If you haven’t seen our comments then you should know there are a bunch of us that have gotten information elsewhere that suggests otherwise.

Verizon won’t be carrying the 32GB model. Time to move on to a better company anyway..

I don’t understand why it is so difficult for Samsung to put a 32 or 64gb chip in the freaking thing. This is without a doubt the worst launch of a major smartphone in the history of smartphones. I was so looking forward to switching, but 9GB for apps just won’t cut it.

16GB phones harken back to 2009, when flash memory was more expensive. Today, in 2013, 64GB of flash is cheaper to make than 16GB was back then. And for Samsung, who makes their own flash memory, the cost is even lower.

Samsung customers are getting doubly screwed — getting less for their money than they did in 2009 and with apps much bigger on average than they were, not having much space left for apps after Samsung fills almost half that meager 16GB with bloatware.

I wanted to buy a Galaxy S4, but I’m not buying a phone with a memory limit left over from 2009. With the profit that Samsung makes on flash (about 95%) it makes no sense not to offer 32GB and 64GB phones. But whatever. Every company seems to have some sort of psychological problems — Samsung offers lots of features and no memory. Apple offers very few features and lots of memory.

Ugh, I was just thinking about this the other day, its 2013 not 2010 when this would be more acceptable. Its absolutely ridiculous that U.S only gets 16gb( except maybe At/t) However I know its not a issue for them because its still going to sell millions and millions because people will buy it( Im still deciding) and wont either care or know about the memory issue.

So true yet unbelievable that a flagship phone with such nice specs would debut on a 16GB platform with only a little over 8 gigs for the user. What is the point of that nonesense? Can u imagine hundreds if not thousands of new smartphone user not putting a memory card in that filling it with music, apps, snapping away at 13 MP, recording 1080p videos and then wondering why they have no “space left” after a month with their new hot cell -how silly in 2013-a super cell with a little over 8 GB of storage yet they tell us to go buy a memory card that we can’t put apps on…what nerve.

The card isn’t a viable option all the time since apps can’t be installed to it.

If they could convince themselves to just not make the 16GB model, they might be able to save money having one less model shipping.

I use about 4.5G on my S3, and about half of that is just GTA3 and GTA Vice City.

A person who likes games and installs a few more like that will run out of space on a 16GB model.

If we can’t have true single level storage, then we should be able to get the larger internal storage option. This isn’t 1994 and Windows 3.1 either-apps should install where we tell them to and should always ask.

to tell u the truth that buying a 16gb phone will give u only 10gb of space left. so the saddest thing is all the pre-loaded software and apps r been used by this.
