T-Mobile iPhone 5 Possible in 2013?

Published

on

The iPhone 5 could be headed to T-Mobile in 2013, says one analyst.

According to Bloomberg, Sanford C. Bernstein’s Craig Moffett relayed the news in a research note today saying that the United State’s fourth largest service provider is likely to reach an agreement to host the iPhone on its network next year.

Moffett says that both Apple and T-Mobile’s parent company Deutsche Telekom are “increasingly likely” to come to an agreement over the iPhone which would finally pave the way for the iconic smartphone to officially be carried by T-Mobile.

T-Mobile, while being the fourth largest carrier in the United States, has been reeling in recent fiscal quarters. One of the factors is the fact that it does not offer the iPhone, a device that its largest competitors AT&T, Sprint and Verizon currently offer to customers.

The iPhone 5, seen here in an engineering sample photo, could head to T-Mobile in 2013.

The iPhone remains the best selling device on AT&T, Verizon and presumably Sprint as well.

Currently, T-Mobile does unofficially offer the iPhone with over a million customers using the device on the carrier’s 2G network. But while smaller networks like C-Spire and Virgin Mobile have been able to acquire the iPhone, T-Mobile is still without the iPhone in an official manner.

Moffett did not specifically say whether he believed that the carrier would offer the upcoming iPhone, presumed to be called the iPhone 5, or if T-Mobile would carry next year’s model.

The iPhone 5 is widely believed to have 4G LTE connectivity on board and T-Mobile is going to be unleashing its 4G LTE network sometime during the first half of 2013.

While iPhone 5 launch carriers are currently unknown, the phone is presumed to be headed to AT&T, Sprint and Verizon at the very least when it launches this fall.

iPhone 5 Release Date

While T-Mobile might not get the iPhone 5 this year, some U.S. carriers will. The main suspects included AT&T, Sprint and Verizon at the moment based on the fact that they carry the iPhone 4S.

As for a release date, we’ve seen August, September and October thrown out there but at this point, nothing points to Apple not following its yearly cycle.

October, at this point, seems like the month to watch considering it’s the same month that Apple launched the iPhone 4S last year.

iPhone 5 Rumors

The iPhone 5 is rumored to feature a number of new features including a faster processor – possibly quad-core in nature, a 4-inch display, a new front-facing camera, and a thin design.

There is even talk that Apple might introduce a brand new design complete with a metal back that will replace the glass found on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5.

And, because AT&T, Sprint and Verizon have 4G LTE networks in place, the iPhone 5 is highly rumored to feature high-speed 4G LTE data speeds as well.

I’m sick of tmobile not getting the iphone. Sure they will get the iphone 5 by Dec of 2013 by that time the iphone 5s would already in the market.
