T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Pre-Orders Begin September 18

Call it a coincidence (or not), but T-Mobile will be opening up pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on September 18, which is the same day that Apple will be officially launching iOS 7. The 5.7-inch phablet-style smartphone will cost you $199 down with 24 payments of $21 per month (or $700 total). You’ll be able to get the device starting on October 2.

Both Verizon and AT&T have had pre-orders available for the new phablet device for a little while now, so we’re not quite sure why T-Mobile is joining the race a bit late. However, The un-carrier will be one of the first major carriers in the US to launch the new miniature tablet, only being beat out by AT&T for a October 1 release date, with Verizon joining late on October 10.

Sprint and U.S. Cellular have also announced plans to carry the Galaxy Note 3, but have yet to reveal a launch date or a date when they will launch pre-orders for the new device. However, these dates should be coming soon enough, so customers shouldn’t have to worry too much if they’re planning on getting the device on one of these two carriers.

The Galaxy Note 3 features a gigantic 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, sporting a 2.3GHz quad-core processor on the inside, with 3GB of RAM. There’s also a 13-megapixel camera on the back, and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone will be able to shoot 1080p/60fps video, with some models being able to record 4K video.

The device will run the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and will come with 4G LTE capabilities, including the T-Mobile version, which just recently launched its LTE network earlier this year. However, it’s one of the smallest LTE networks in the US right now when comparing major carriers, with only 167 million people covered with T-Mobile’s 4G offering, but the carrier is expected to quickly expand within the next couple of years, and has set some lofty year-end goals to make that happen.

The Galaxy Note 3 also supports LTE Advanced, and T-Mobile is one of the first US carriers to offer such a feature at an international level. We’re not sure how that will play out in the US once the Galaxy Note 3 launches, but T-Mobile could have a bit of an edge when it comes to the newer LTE technology.
