T-Mobile Takes A Jab at AT&T In New Ad

Published

on

T-Mobile’s latest ad highlighting the iPhone 5 takes a few shots at AT&T and the large number of users on the AT&T network.

The ad shows two pipes, one marked T-Mobile that carries magenta liquid and one unmarked pipe that carries blue liquid in an obvious attack on AT&T. T-Mobile attacks the company that once tried to buy it by saying that it’s network is slower because it has so many people on it.

The blue liquid from the AT&T pipe comes out in a steady drip, showing how bogged down the network is. T-Mobile’s pipe, however, sprays a continuous blast of magenta liquid across the white room to show how fast the network is. The voice-over says that T-Mobile has over 50 percent more bandwidth per customer than other networks.

T-Mobile’s argument comes down to: AT&T’s network is slow and overcrowded, but nobody uses our network, you should use our network because it’s faster.

Historically AT&T’s network is slower than some of its competitors because of the number of users on the network. Before AT&T’s 4G LTE network rollout 3G and “4G” HSPA+ were essentially useless is cities like New York and San Francisco. AT&T’s 4G LTE network helped improve that, but as more people get 4G LTE phones the network slows down.

In places where a lot of users switched to AT&T’s 4G LTE network, T-Mobile’s network is potentially just as fast, especially in one of the few cities that have T-Mobile 4G LTE. Fewer users means there’s more bandwidth for the users that are on the network.

T-Mobile recently added a number of subscribers when it merged with MetroPCS last week, but those users will continue using MetroPCS’ network. The merger shouldn’t affect T-Mobile’s network speed at the moment, but should make its 4G LTE network faster and more robust when it incorporates T-Mobile and MetroPCS spectrum sometime next year.

T-Mobile has HORRIBLE coverage unless you live in a major city or a couple of miles from an interstate!

AT&T has MASSIVE coverage, there is nowhere I go where I can’t get coverage, even way out in the country!!!

I wanted to switch from ATT $130 plus tax plan for 2 smart phones with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and share 1 GB of data for the exact same plan with T-Mobile for only $80 plus tax, I bought a $10 Sim Card from T-Mobile to try it for the 5 days it lasts and it worked fine in my job but was dead 50% at home and the other 50% had poor signal 1, 2 and few times 3 bars when the store and computer show my home area coverage as excellent, so I got stock with ATT and extra $50.

I hope T-Mobile gets better at home to switch with them, the price is better and the no contract is getting tons of new clients.

As for LTE signal coverage is very limited for all carriers and they only have it in major cities and not in smaller ones, I hope they invest some of the millions in profits they make on adding LTE all over, but it might take forever or never.

All the phone companies attack each other mostly with lies.
Verizon says they have better LTE than ATT but only in cities where ATT doesn’t have signal which is not a fair comparison.
Why Verizon doesn’t compare speed where they both have signal?
My nephew worked in the IT deparment for Verizon and told me about those unfair adds.
T-Mobile has less customers and it means their signal splits among less users meaning will be better than a bigger company, the only problem is that T-Mobile has very little coverage and tons of dead areas and whole Estates.
Hopefully T-Mobile gets more coverage because competition is always good for everybody and there is no need for stupid attacks.

It will be interesting to see what T-Mobile’s LTE network will be like as it rolls out. They have a very aggressive roll out plan. Plus, their backup HSPA+ 42 MBPS which is great. (I have tested my LTE phone on VZW against a T-Mobile on HSPA+ using the Speed Test app and the T-Mobile always has the faster download/upload). I will admit I never had an issue when I had AT&T service and I have heard T-Mobile isn’t as good in rural areas compared to the cities. But then, I rarely travel to rural areas. I hope T-Mobile is successful, VZW and AT&T need the competition.
