The 5 Best Verizon Smartphones [May, 2013]

Published

on

It has taken quite awhile for Verizon to reveal its entire hand for 2013 though as the year progresses, we are starting to get a feel for what it may have to offer later in the year. And while some of those devices may not come to fruition until much later, the carrier does have some exciting and very capable devices on shelves for those that may be in the market for a new smartphone in the month of May.

2013 has not been kind to those looking to grab a new flagship smartphone on the nation’s largest 4G LTE service provider. HTC and the HTC One have seemingly passed it over, at least for now, and its Samsung Galaxy S4, which arrives later on this month, represents its biggest smartphone launch of the year, six months in.

In the past six months, Verizon has been extremely quiet in terms of new smartphone launches. We’ve seen some smaller, mid-to-low range devices hit shelves but nothing that warranted a mention amongst the best that the carrier has to offer. And while things have certainly been slow, it doesn’t mean that Verizon isn’t an enticing carrier.

It boasts the largest 4G LTE network in the U.S., is still one of the best when it comes to customer service and despite not having anything new in regards to flagships, still boasts one of the best smartphone lineups in all the land.

It should only get better as we enter the second half of the year as well with a rumored Droid DNA 2 on the way and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 likely in the cards this fall. For now though, customers looking for a smartphone in May will just have to settle for what Verizon has and again, it fortunately has a lot.

Verizon’s smartphone lineup is expansive making a choice difficult for those that need to make a choice. Here, we try and narrow down those options as we list what we consider to be the five best Verizon smartphones for the month of May, 2013.

While the iPhone 5 is increasing in age, it still remains one the best smartphone options available on the nation's largest 4G LTE carrier.

The iPhone 5 sports a gorgeous 4-inch Retina Display and is also outfitted with a fantastic rear camera, industrial design that is both slim and lightweight and it also features iOS 6 with several big iOS updates likely in the cards as well.

Indeed, the iPhone 5 is old and still the same price as it was when it arrived, but rest assured, those who do buy it will get a phone that lasts through the duration of a contract.

iPhone 5 made the list? Why? Its OS is over 6 years old, the design looks dated and boring. Why was BlackBerry Z10 omitted? Is this editor so grossly ignorant and uninformed??
