Android 8.1 Oreo and What's Next

So what's next after the November Pixel 2 Oreo update? A lot, actually.

Google confirmed a big Android 8.1 Oreo update is coming in December, and it will have plenty of changes, new features, and other bug fixes. In fact, you can try Android 8.1 Oreo right now through the developer beta program.

That is early software, and you might experience bugs, but it's the latest release from Google. Keep in mind that it doesn't have all the screen color management and Bluetooth fixes from November, at least not yet. We're expecting an Android 8.1 developer preview 2 within the next 2-3 weeks.

If you're still having problems on the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL after installing the November update, and after trying our fixes, give Android 8.1 Oreo a try. Here are a few reasons you should, or shouldn't, try it today.

We're not expecting any other official updates to the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL until December. The first one is the December security update, then the full Android 8.1 Oreo release shortly thereafter. We'll update once we know more.
