Unlocked Galaxy S II for AT&T and T-Mobile Now Available at Newegg

It has been a long wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II here in the United States and while Samsung has promised a launch this month, there are probably a few of you out there that just don’t want to wait any longer or better yet, don’t want to sign up for a new contract. Well, Newegg has got you covered my friends as it is now offering an AT&T and T-Mobile compatible unlocked Galaxy S II for a cool $650.

Galaxy S II

It’s the international version of the phone and it offers GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 radio bands which means that it should be compatible with both major GSM providers in the United States.

Now, $650 isn’t cheap and it’s probably best that wait until the carriers officially announce these phones before you pounce on this device but if there is no stopping you, you can find Newegg’s deal right here.

They will work, but ONLY on EDGE. Unfortunately 3G won’t work because of the different frequencies that both AT&T and T-mobile use.

Why does the advertisement state that it runs on AT&T 3G, plus listing GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, and Wifi I wonder? If I bought this and it only ran on EDGE, I would send it back.

I bought the S II in Europe about 3 weeks ago and brought it back to the US. It works at 3G, 3.5G and H+ only on AT&T. T-Mobile is using frequency 1700 instead of 2100 for HSDPA/HSUPA so please don’t get this device and expect it to work on T-Mobile or you will be very upset
