Verizon Ready to Show Off New Devices, Just Not the HTC One

Published

on

Gotta Be Mobile has received an invitation for a Verizon event in New York City on July 23rd and while the carrier doesn’t say what will be revealed, it’s clear that it’s going to be the heavily rumored Motorola Droid Ultra, Droid MAXX and the Droid Mini.

Verizon will be hosting an invite-only event in New York where the company will be showing off what it calls one of its “most popular family of devices.” While the carrier does not elaborate, it’s clear that it’s referring to the Droid family, a brand that has been exclusive to Verizon’s network for several years now.

The Droid Mini, Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX should debut on July 23rd.

The Droid Mini, Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX should debut on July 23rd.

The carrier does not say what it will be announcing at the event though it’s clear that it will be a trio of new smartphones, including the Motorola Droid Ultra, Motorola Droid MAXX and the Motorola Droid Mini, all three of which have leaked out ahead of their launch date.

The devices are said to be replacing the Droid RAZR HD, Droid RAZR MAXX HD and the Droid RAZR M, the three Motorola flagships that launched in late 2012. It’s unclear if Verizon will opt to market them under the RAZR brand name or if it will instead leave that out and market the devices simply as Droid. Motorola isn’t expected to debut the new Moto X on stage instead leaving the unveiling to the other three devices.

Motorola’s new Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX are expected to tout large displays, possibly 5-inches in size, Snapdragon 800 quad-core processors and 10MP cameras that should be able to take quality photos, even in low-light environments. The Droid Mini will likely feature lesser specifications though it still remains a mystery.

All three will likely run on the carrier’s 4G LTE network and run a version of Android, perhaps the new Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which has yet to arrive for Droid RAZR HD or Droid RAZR MAXX HD owners. Those devices seem to be a certainty.  However, Verizon does have one other device that has yet to receive official details.

The Verizon HTC One remains missing.

The Verizon HTC One remains missing.

The Verizon HTC One is official but it remains without a release date or any specifics. It doesn’t appear to be a Droid device, which may mean that it won’t make an appearance, but with its rumored August 1st release date coming up, anything is possible.

If Verizon issues release dates for the new Droids, it would be a sharp blow to those that have been waiting patiently, and impatiently, for information about the Verizon HTC One.

Whatever the case may be, Gotta Be Mobile will be reporting live Verizon’s event live in New York City on July 23rd.

So tired of Verizon dragging everything out. The HTC One should have been released months ago. No, supposedly they will release it August1, just a week before announcing all the new Droids. Sorry Verizon, but you are no longer the only game in town….

To bad the new Droids dont have front facing speakers. Ive been waiting FOREVER for Verizon to get the HTC One, I might as well wait for something else to come along. I just really dig the the Boomsound Speakers. Its up in the air Verizon. Im no longer waiting for the One. You’ve dragged your feet long enough.

If size isn’t an issue, the HTC One Max is rumored to be announced in September. Boomsound speaker with a 5.9 inch screen and Snapdragon 800 processor. Plus there’s documents that suggest it’ll come out for Verizon. I was waiting for the One for months, but I’m not going to buy a nearly 1/2 year old phone…

Sure, Verizon is way behind with the One. I’ll still get it though. Anything new this year won’t even come close to blowing it out of the water. Yea, there’s a rumored HTC One refresh for this year possibly having Snapdragon 800. Probably wont be able to tell a difference. And with the rumored VZ Edge plan, I won’t have to worry if there is a big difference..

Because they release a phone 4 months behind the others? Man, the One is sooo obsolete now. Only a small margin of the market is dead set on having the newest phone. Besides I’d rather wait 4 months than have horrible coverage…even Sprint has horrible coverage here and their HQ is down the street. AT&T and Tmobile? No thanks. The newest phone doesn’t do much when you can’t use it.

I did switch to t mobile and I have better LTE 4G better than Verizon iPhone 5 I used to have, my HTC ONE killed Verizon speeds!! Maybe it’s better Verizon don’t get the HTC ONE!! They don’t have because they SUCK!!! At least sprint, AT&T,and t mobile have it!!! Not VZW??? But great post there Brett

Wow, Brett must work for Verizon. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an apologist for a company that locks people into long term contracts, and prohibits outside hardware on their network, while not keeping a current lineup of phones available for sale. Pretty sure there are better ways to spend your time, Brett. Maybe go out and make sure the overcharging ice cream man isn’t getting cheated by some kids or something.

The current HTC One will only work with AT&T, T-Mobile, and etc because the phone was created to use GSM. In order for the HTC One to work on Verizon’s network, HTC will need to create a model that will work with CDMA. Also, the HTC One is not obselete by any means. Even if you are going by Moore’s law, you are still incorrect(Brett). I have been waiting for the HTC One to be released on Verizon since before Verizon announced it on Twitter. HTC is now finally starting to create, or continueing creating the HTC One with CMDA support. Also, I am sure that Verizon will want to release the HTC One with the new version of android, which has already been released to rival carriers. I have been due for an upgrade for several months and I see that the HTC One is on the horizon, I like others, hope that the release is sooner than later.

HTC One may have missed the mark in terms of sales by not releasing it soon enough for Verizon. But people will still get it. For phone manufacturers Verizon is a PAIN to deal with. Why do you think Apple chose AT&T in the beginning when clearly Verizon was their 1st choice? Samsung G4’s design is stale and the iPhone has gotten boring. People crave for the next revolutionary mobile device and HTC One is IT — until something comes along…

Man, Verizon must really need all the publicity they can get if they’re sending an invite to this PoS blog. I’ve never seen someone so desperate for traffic. Adam, we get it: You have a serious hard-on for the Verizon HTC One; now please stop filling up the Google News module with your shitty articles regarding it. I have no idea how this site’s articles even show up in results, let alone how GBM hasn’t been downgraded by Google.

No one is forcing you to read this article or any other for that matter. Why are you wasting time posting?! And for the record, everyone interested in mobile technology is interested in the HTC One and hence all the hype surrounding the phone. Keep your ridiculous posts to yourself as the author has to update people on tech news, it’s his job! Go do yours and quit cumbering the Internet with your useless words and putting down others with your ignorance…

This is absolutely ridiculous Verizon. No one cares about your tired Droids and continual lack of keeping up with the latest mobile trends. The HTC One is the top mobile phone right now and it has been out on other carriers not for weeks, but MONTHS!!! That is completely unacceptable! Now I remember why I didn’t come to Verizon in the first place! Wake up and start caring about what your customers want and not only what is lucrative for YOU! Keep it up and you will lose massive amounts of customers. I am pretty much there and it’s a real shame…
