Verizon Galaxy Nexus Android 4.3 Update Release Still Coming

Published

on

It has been several months since Google announced and released Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. In fact, the company has already replaced the software with a brand new Android update in Android 4.4 KitKat. One device that is still without either is the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, though, according to Verizon, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Android 4.3 update release is still coming.

All the way back in July, Google released the brand new Nexus 7 2013 and along with it, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, like Android 4.2 Jelly Bean before it, was and is an incremental update, offering users some smaller features that build upon the foundation left behind by the original Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

The Worst Part About the Wait for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Update

In the months after the release, several devices received the Android 4.3 update including Google’s Nexus devices, the Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, HTC One, and the Sprint Galaxy Nexus. Some of those devices have even gone on to receive Android 4.4 KitKat, a brand new Android update that was released in November.

One device that has yet to receive either update is the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, a device that was the first to device to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, all the way back in December of 2011. While we know Android 4.4 KitKat is out of the picture, thanks to Google killing off support for its version of the Galaxy Nexus, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has been a big question mark, given how long it has been since the update was announced and given Verizon’s silence.

We think we have answered that question today as Verizon has confirmed its intention to roll out the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Android 4.3 update to Gotta Be Mobile. According to Albert Aydin, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Android 4.3 update is “coming” but he unfortunately does not have any information in regard to a time frame for the update. Aydin is typically the one who relays information about Verizon’s software roll outs so he would be one to know.

Galaxy Nexus

This is both good and bad news for owners of the device. Good, because it means that there is still a very good chance that this update is going to roll out, two years after the release of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Bad, because there is still no time frame for the Android 4.3 update’s release. Verizon typically doesn’t announce release dates ahead of schedule so the lack of information here is unsurprising.

When and if the update does arrive, it would likely not only have Android 4.3 features on board, but also bug fixes for some of the issues that have been plaguing owners since the arrival of the last Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update. Users are continuing to voice their frustrations with the previous update and are hopeful that any incoming update to the device will alleviate those issues.

Great read! I usually check for reviews of the best tablets on https://blaketablets.com/, they really helped me decide which to buy.

Too bad I’m already on 4.4.2 on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Gotta love the developing community. If anything this might give us some better radio files.

Hey John, where did you get 4.4.2 for your Verizon Nexus?

“a device that was the first to device to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich,” – fix this, come on San Francisco! “Device” is a verb all of a sudden?
