Verizon Galaxy Nexus Getting ICS Update Before Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

It appears that the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is set to get an Ice Cream Sandwich update before it’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean release date arrives.

Android Central has leaked a screen shot that indicates that the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is set to get an Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update at some point in the future. The software will be labeled IMM76Q and it will be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and not Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the update that those with the Galaxy Nexus have been waiting for since late June.

We heard about this update earlier this month, so this is nothing new. What is new is that this will likely be rolling out before Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, something that might not sit well with Galaxy Nexus owners anxious for the new software.

However, this update could potentially squash any known ICS bugs before Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rolls out, something that Galaxy Nexus should appreciate should it perform such a function.

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus will likely get an ICS update before Jelly Bean.

The update is currently in the hands of testers so it could only be a matter of days or weeks before we finally see the software roll out. It could also be months before it arrives which also could mean bad news for those who wish to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on their Galaxy Nexus soon.

Verizon took five months to release the first bug fix update for the Galaxy Nexus and it’s possible that Verizon could take a long time to roll out this piece of software as well.

Google has said that the Verizon Galaxy Nexus will be among the first devices to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and now that the Nexus S update has rolled out and the Motorola Xoom update is poised to arrive, hopefully we’ll see some evidence point in that direction.

For now though, especially because of this update, owners will want to temper their expectations.

We have K, we’re getting something called Q?
    Never a dull moment.
No flames but you know what I’m thinking…..
It might be days? Weeks?months? Work on writing clear sentences please. Ambiguous doesn’t work in this article. Am I getting Q tomorrow or in months?
Microsoft might get back on this game if google slows it down any further.
