Verizon Galaxy Nexus Update to Fix Signal Issues on Defective Devices

Published

on

Owners of replacement Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus devices who are experiencing signal issues might soon get some relief as Verizon is slated to push out an Over-the-Air update that promises to fix the issues that many owners of replacement devices are having with their Nexus smartphone.

According to Droid-Life, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus should get an OTA update soon in an effort to shore up some of the signal issues that owners have been experiencing on replacement Verizon Galaxy Nexus smartphones.

Some owners are currently unable to hold a 4G LTE connection for more than a couple of minutes before the connection is lost. And those who have been waiting for the fix have been wondering when one might roll out.

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus’ signal issues will be fixed with a software update.

Well, it appears that Best Buy thinks one will be rolling out soon, this according to a leaked memo. It states that September 14th was the day that it would start to arrive for these replacement devices.

The report claims that some devices already received the update as boxes with an “Updated” sticker appeared so those who are looking to trade-in a Verizon Galaxy Nexus at Best Buy might want to make sure that’s the case before taking a new phone home.

We assume this is a small update.

As for the larger update, namely the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, we haven’t seen anything concrete in terms of its release date though Verizon is telling customers that the update should be expected soon.

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is the only Nexus-branded smartphone in the United States that doesn’t have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean yet and thus far, we have no release date in sight.

Hopefully, the carrier reveals some news soon.

Anyone out there experiencing signal issues with their Verizon Galaxy Nexus?

I just got off the phone with a Samsung technician who informed me that Sprint will be releasing the Jelly Bean update in a few days. I then called Verizon tech support and informed them of my discussing with the Samsung tech support person. She told me that it is “rumored” at Verizon that Verizon will be pushing the Jelly Bean update perhaps within the next 5 to 6 days. Weather or not the update is actually sent out we’ll just have to wait and see.

I am a bit confused. Samsung mentioned that “Sprint” will be releasing in a few days? Sprint has already released Jelly Bean. Did you mean that the Samsung technician said that Verizon will be releasing Jelly Bean in a few days?

I got a Galaxy Nexus replacement device and the dropped calls was so bad that I sent it back. Got another replacement and it is the same problem, Verizon techs that I talked to had no idea of this problem (or atleast they didn’t convey it to me). I cannot talk or receive data for more than a minute because my signal will go to “x”

Used to have that same problem with mine. Nobody could ever fix the problem, although eventually the Verizon instore people admitted it’s a probably everyone is having. Even the Samsung rep admitted they didn’t know how to fix it. Basically the only way to fix it is to break it in half and then buy a decent phone (read: not a Galaxy Nexus).
