Published

on

We have already heard that the Samsung Galaxy S III Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update release date might be close and now we are hearing that the Verizon Galaxy S III Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, specifically, might be close as well.

A source has informed us that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean roll out for the Verizon Galaxy S III isn’t too far away and that owners should expect it to arrive sooner rather than later.

They could not give us a specific time table, only saying that the roll out is ‘very close’. Unfortunately, this only applies to the Verizon Galaxy S III model and not any of the other Galaxy S III models that have launched on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular.

We’ve heard that the Verizon Galaxy S III Jelly Bean update is close.

Of course, this Android 4.1 Jelly Bean path for the Galaxy S III could become more windy as time goes on. However, as of right now, it appears as though Verizon is working hard to get this update out to its device.

This news comes shortly after we heard that the Samsung Galaxy S III Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update was in the works and that we could see a roll out take place in either August or September.

American carriers are notoriously slow at getting their devices upgraded with the latest Android software which makes this information in regards to the speed of the Verizon Galaxy S III update quite surprising.

It’s possible that the Android PDK has done its job and has allowed Samsung to get the update to carriers for testing in a quick manner.

So while we can’t confirm an actual roll out date quite yet, the fact that we’re hearing the word ‘close’ associated with the roll out is a good sign. We’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope that this speedy time table pans out.

Hmmm…Verizon can’t get ICS out to several HTC phones, like Desire, Thunderbolt, or Rezound. But they work on getting JB out to a newly released phone that already has ICS. Nice going. No wonder some people like iPhones where they roll out updates to everyone on all carriers at one time and on a regular basis.

As much as I despise Apple he is right they release updates and support their phones for over 2-3 years. I’m an admitted android fanboy but considering on how the I-phone 3gs still gets updates and the GS2 will most likely never see 4.1 he does have a valid point.

A “Source” said its coming “soon”. With those kind of details and hard dates, I won’t get my hopes up. Well I’ll try not to anyway.

Considering JB will probably be old news when the new Nexus phones launch Verizon and all the US carriers need to get on this so we aren’t dealing with a flagship premium Android that is 2 os versions behind. If that’s the case I’m most likely grabbing an unlocked next gen nexus and using a straight talk sim card.

Here it is December & EVERY phone carrier has the Jelly Bean update & as usual Verizon hasn’t rolled out anything. Except for the Motorola Droid phones. They are all getting the update as I type. When I bought the phone they said the new software would be on my NEW phone before Dec. Another HUGE lie from Verizon. I have enjoyed being with Verizon; but it’s really sad when AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile & all the rest of the companies have had NO problem getting the new software rolled out to all their customers. So I have to ask. What’s the big holdup for the Samsung 3; VERIZON????? Inquiring minds would love to know.
