Verizon Galaxy S III Developer Edition Still Missing
More than a month after Samsung announced the Verizon Galaxy S III Developer Edition with unlockable bootloader was coming soon, the device remains unreleased and Samsung’s website is unchanged.
In mid-July, after it became apparent that the regular Verizon Galaxy S III launched with an encrypted bootloader that would never be unlocked, Samsung announced that it would be releasing a Verizon Galaxy S III Developer Edition that would come with an unlockable bootloader and a hefty price tag.
The device soon went up on Samsung’s website with the words “Coming Soon” plastered in the heading. We heard from several readers who were interested in snagging this device as the unlockable bootloader would let them fully customize their Galaxy S III and use it on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

Samsung still says the Verizon Galaxy S III Developer Edition is coming soon.
Now, a little less than two months later, Samsung’s website remains unchanged – it still says coming soon – and the device still isn’t available for customers to purchase.
Both Samsung and Verizon are mum on any details and we haven’t heard of or seen any leaked details regarding its release date. That of course leaves open the possibility that the Verizon Galaxy S III Developer Edition will never launch and will instead forever be a tease for those that wish to buy it.
It could be that Verizon didn’t want Samsung to release it, it could be that Samsung didn’t have the resources or time to make it happen in the past few months, it could be something else entirely.
What’s clear though is that there is a broken promise here.
“Coming soon” does not mean two months down the road. Quite frankly, “coming soon” shouldn’t even mean a month. Yet, here we are with no answers and no Verizon Galaxy S III Developer Edition.
It’s our hope, again, that Samsung releases the device alongside the 64GB Galaxy S III but at this point, we can’t say for sure that that’s going to happen.
Anyone else moved on from this device or are you still waiting for it?

Maybe because the bootloader can already be unlocked with the regular version so there is no need for a developer version. We’ve been able to unlock the bootloader for 2 months now. I love informed blogs.
