Verizon Galaxy S III Getting First Update Soon

Published

on

The Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy S III will get its first update soon and one that brings a number of enhancements and bug fixes along with it.

Verizon posted the details of the update to its website which generally means that an update is just around the corner. The carrier did not specify a roll out date but software that is posted to Verizon’s website typically rolls out a few days after the posting.

This will be the first update for Verizon’s Galaxy S III, a device that was released back in July running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Over the past few months, owners have run into various issues that while not devastating, were pesky bugs nonetheless.

The Verizon Galaxy S III will get its first update soon.

The update will take care of some of those issues.

Here is the full rundown of the changelog for the Verizon Galaxy S III update:

  • Improved stability and connectivity with Back Up Assistant
  • Added support for viewing the Guided Tour video’s over the Cellular Network
  • Enhanced Customer Support with Verizon Remote Diagnostics
  • Improved Data Connectivity when using SBeam
  • NFC (TecTile) tagging issue resolved to ensure pre-programmed text messages are accurate
  • “No SIM” pop up issue has been resolved

While not Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, this is a fantastic update for those with a Verizon Galaxy S III experiencing problems. The update itself is around 30MB in size which means that owners will be able to quickly download and install the update. Soon after, the new software will be up and running and presumably, it will offer a much better experience than the stock software.

As for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Samsung said that it will roll out for the Galaxy S III in October. That could mean that devices like the Verizon Galaxy S III could see the update but it’s also possible that due to it being an American variant, owners will have to wait for a prolonged period of time before the software shows up.

At this point, we’re hopefully that it rolls out before 2013 ends.

Thanks for the tips, everyone!

Just downloaded the update…the only thing I’ve read that is obvious to the user is that they removed the Universal Search…
