Verizon Galaxy S4 Arriving Ahead of Release Date

Published

on

As expected, the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 has begun arriving on the doorsteps of those who placed pre-orders, a few days ahead of its official release date which is set to take place this Thursday, May 23rd.

Yesterday, we told you that Verizon Galaxy S4 pre-orders, placed through Verizon, had started shipping to customers across the United States with some deliveries estimated to arrive as soon as Wednesday. According to several people we spoke to, while the device was indeed coming with two-day shipping, Verizon evidently put a hold on some of those devices so they wouldn’t arrive until Wednesday at the earliest.

The Verizon Galaxy S4 has arrived. For some.

The Verizon Galaxy S4 has arrived. For some.

Turns out, some devices slipped through the cracks and some people are now finding the Verizon Galaxy S4 sitting on a doorstep, ready to be turned on and used. Like most pre-orders, there is no method to the madness. Orders are going to pop up in random locations with no one region getting first dibs on the device.

While some of those who pre-ordered will be seeing their device arrive today, we also know that plenty of others will likely be seeing their device arrive tomorrow as they are still sitting at warehouses, many miles away. That said, the device will still likely arrive a day ahead of its release date for most or all of those who pre-ordered in the early days of Verizon’s offer.

Those who pre-ordered elsewhere may not get treated to the same speed. Thus far, we aren’t hearing of any pre-orders from Best Buy, RadioShack, Staples or Walmart getting through and this early arrival, for now, appears limited to those who placed orders directly through Verizon itself.

Best Buy and Staples confirmed to Gotta Be Mobile that they will have stock on May 23rd. RadioShack and Walmart have yet to confirm though we imagine that they may have stock on release date as well.

Verizon’s Galaxy S4 becomes the final big carrier Galaxy S4 launch, following in the footsteps of the arrivals on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular.

I ordered mine through the actual store, and I got an email saying it had been delivered, but they said they won’t give it to me until the 28th. I am so angry. It is in the store, in a box, collecting dust.

The reason why people are getting their S4’s today, is because Verizon gave customers who preordered the choice between free 2 day shipping, and $11.99 overnight shipping. I paid $14.99 for Priority Overnight, and received my S4 this morning.

Mine arrived yesterday and after some difficult getting the SIM activated (ultimately had to go to the store) it’s up and running! Works great! There is a pretty big learing curve as there are so many options but (this is my first Samsung device) the layout is pretty easy to figure out and I’ve got it all set up. Loving it!
