Verizon HTC One Release Could Happen by July 15th

Published

on

There are still no concrete signs of a Verizon HTC One release date though a new offer from HTC could ensure that a Verizon HTC One release takes place by July 15th, dead smack in the middle of summer.

Earlier today, we filled prospective HTC One buyers in on a deal that HTC is hosting from now until July 15th. The company is currently offering new HTC One buyers $25 in Google Play Credit when the device is bought on a carrier in the United States. This deal is applicable to any carrier offering the HTC One and from any retailer that sells it, including Amazon, Walmart, Radio Shack, Target and others.

Interestingly, the drop down menu on the website includes some peculiar carriers. First, MetroPCS, which currently does not boast the HTC One and Verizon, which has seen the device announced though remains mum on a specific release date. Typically, these drop down menus surface on device splash pages ahead of launch and not on deals like this. Furthermore, they typically list every single carrier possible, not just ones applicable to the device. This is what makes this listing so interesting.

HTC and Verizon announced that the HTC One would be released sometime this summer. They did not say when and have since been engaged in a tireless campaign to assure potential buyers that the device will indeed arrive sometime this summer. And given the timing of this deal, and the fact that Verizon is listed, perhaps HTC and Verizon are going to release it by July 15th so Verizon buyers, like those on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, can take advantage of this deal.

We could see a Verizon HTC One at the Verizon announcement.

The Verizon HTC One is still without a release date.

Keep in mind, this is a clue, not definitive proof. Summer stretches into August so it’s possible that Verizon could be waiting that long to offer it. However, given, the announcement, the fact that the HTC One is an aging phone, and the demand for it, a release by July 15th sounds about right.

Those expecting a concrete date though are just going to have to wait for an official announcement which should come at some point in the near future, possibly after HTC releases Android 4.2 for the HTC One.

Thing is, by then will it matter? I have wanted the One to come to Verizon since I heard about the phone, but have grown tired of waiting. I already dropped the line I had available for upgrade. I have another coming up in August, but I will most likely wait until it’s confirmed that the phone can work on Verizon’s network, and then buy an unlocked version and use it. Just tired of Verizon’s ways of doing things.

You know, of course, that “dead smack in the middle of summer” is August 2nd, not July 15th, and that summer actually stretches into September…

I so want this phone but Verizon is taking far too long to get it. By the time they do, it won’t be the new hotness anymore, but rather, just another phone.

As usual, Adam Mills is digging deeply for anything to post that has even the faintest hint of Android, HTC, or Verion. Those clicks must be how he makes most of his advertising kick backs. I remember when he used to actually post useful information regarding Android and its related business, but those times have passed. Sad.

I’ve noticed all the news regarding the One is guesses now haha (not just this site, but every site). I’ve been waiting for the One for a while, but I’m going to give up unless it comes out this week and wait for the next one. Verizon blew it, and sadly, HTC won’t be getting my money. I hope my Incredible can last til the end of the year!

Verizon blew it with the Htc One. The lifespan of hot tech is measured in months, not years. And by the time it finally arrives, Samsung will decimate all rivals with the Note 3. Too bad

I think the times of claiming one manufacturer or one specific phone will “decimate all rivals” have passed. If times (the past 4-6 years) have told us anything, it is that there is room for more than one success story. Samsung has not destroyed Apple, Motorola, nor HTC. Apple has not destroyed Samsung, Motorola, nor HTC either. One size, or one of anything, does not fit all. The Note 3 will not put all others to shame, and if it does, it will only be for a few months before something tops even it. I have a Droid DNA, and there is not any phone out to this day that I find worth trading for. I am not the only one who feels that way. If Verizon releases a version of the One, or a follow up to the DNA, of HTC releases a “Nexus Version One”, or if Motorola releases an “X-Phone”, or if Apple releases a iPhone 5s or iPhone 6, or if there is a Nexus 5, or a new Nexus 7, or if Samsung releases a GS4 Developer Edition, or a new Note 3, etc etc etc etc, there is a market for all of it, someone to buy it and someone to be disappointed in it. Because “you” own what you consider to be the king of all devices that particular week, doesn’t make you a winner to anyone but yourself.

BFD so it will be a few months old when Verizion releases it. It will still be a top tier phone when the next girations of IPhone, Samsung, MOTo or X phone come out. You people worry to much that your phone will become obsolete when some new hot thing comes out and it has a couple of neet features that you dont have but have to have or I WILL DIE. Its only a phone folks, GET A REAL LIFE.

it’s has nothing to do with being obsolete. it upsets me that the phone I want has been on other carriers for months and when it finally comes to my carrier, it will be at the same price it was when it started on the others (who, btw, will have it for $50 to $100 discount by then). it’s not fair to the consumer and it’s not good for the manufacturer.

It’s not just about the HTc One, although from what I’ve seen of it it’s the best phone I’ve seen in years. Verizon is notorious for delaying introduction of new models, loading them up with dumb bloatware, refusing to stock models with the most memory and just generally offering a second-rate selection of puposefully handicapped phones.

I’m also unclear why antagonists like “Dick” show up with broad insults aimed at “you people”. There are good reason to be annoyed with the shenanigans. Contract pricing includes subsidizing your phone purchase for 20-24 months. Once that is up if you stay with the carrier your bill doesn’t change, so the carrier is raking in extra profit while they drag their feet, plus once you do sign they’ve got you for another two years. I want my carrier to be concentrating on building out a network, not dictating which model of phone I can use. Unfortunately with VZW we ar kind of stuck as CDMA phones won’t work on other networks or vice-versa. So it’s doubly-insulting when they play their little games.

I’m investigating AT&T at this point. I have no love for them either but the past few years their handset selection has been better.
