Verizon HTC One Release Looks Good For August

Published

The Verizon HTC One release has taken another turn today as a new report suggests that the device doesn’t have a firm release date and instead, will be launching at some point between mid-to-late August.

In early June, HTC and Verizon announced the HTC One, a device whose launch came shy of two months after the HTC One was first released in the United States. Since late April, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile have offered the HTC One on their 4G LTE networks while Verizon customers have been made to wait.

The Verizon HTC One is likely coming in August. It’s just a matter of when.

Things have been progressing though the HTC One remains unreleased on Verizon, despite several rumored release dates. The first, August 1st, came and went without a peep from Verizon though leaked information suggested that Verizon may have moved the release to August 15th. Just yesterday, that release date was thrown into flux as August 29th was rumored to be a possible release date for the HTC One.

The same source of the August 29th date, PhoneArena, now suggests that the HTC One may not have a specific release date at all. Instead, it appears that Verizon is looking to launch it in the middle or late part of this month around the same time that the carrier is expected to release the Droid Ultra, Droid Mini, Droid MAXX and Moto X.

The HTC One Max is rumored for September with a 6-inch display.

The HTC One for Verizon was first announced in June.

The information comes from a leaked road map that seems to suggest that the HTC One release date is having a hard time finding a home amongst Verizon’s other launches. If this information is accurate, it also means that August 15th is as much of a possibility as August 29th. It also means that August is looking very ripe for an HTC One release on Verizon.

The road map suggests a loaded August for Verizon with the Moto X scheduled for an August 23rd release, the Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX apparently looking to land on August 20th and the Droid Mini landing on August 29th. There are also several mid-range devices including the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere that are expected to touch down in August.

So perhaps Verizon has yet to settle on an HTC One release date amongst all of these other devices. What is clear though is that the Verizon HTC One launch just got even more confusing for consumers, even though it’s becoming abundantly clear that the device is heading to shelves in August.

More frustrating for me than the lack of release date (although that’s extremely frustrating) is that fact that Verizon doesn’t seem to care about the phone before it’s even come out. VZW is trumpeting up and down the new DROIDs, but they were announced well after the One and yet they are getting the spotlight and will be released first (maybe? I mean, we don’t know!).

As I said yesterday, I got the Incredible LTE which was basically abandoned by Verizon the month it was released. It was on the list of devices to get Jellybean, which never came. I cracked my screen and was told by several repair shops that it was nigh impossible to get parts for it because Verizon stopped supporting it.

I am loathe to buy a phone that Verizon doesn’t seem to give two $#!+s about before it’s even come out.

months late – and now the MOTO X will be released w/o custom colors and only with 16gb. Verizon is an unresponsive monolith which eventually crumble like GM

Unfortunately, this is all still speculative and your reasoning could just as easily suggest a “delay” into September. The much shocking but dismissed September 5th, perhaps?

I really do hope it’s launched in August, but more and more I’m beginning to think the first leaked photo was correct all along.

Verizon has good coverage, but really is otherwise the absolute worst of the bunch as far as providers goes.

VZW needs to get there crap together! They need to quit favoring vendors and favor a customer for once

Why is everyone so surprised by the release date? It is clearly meant to coincide with the release date of Verizon’s new program. https://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/consumer/devices/edge.html

Their new program will make these more expensive smartphones far more attractive to those who couldn’t afford the initial $200+ price of the phone (in contract).
