Verizon HTC One Release Sees Another Possible Window

Published

on

With HTC and Verizon refusing to divulge details in regards to the Verizon HTC One, frustrated buyers have been searching for answers. And while answers remain hard to find, we’ve seen several potential clues emerge with the most recent being an extension to a Google Play deal that was supposed to end on July 15th but has been extended to July 30th with no explanation.

For weeks now, HTC and Verizon have remained silent on any of the official details regarding the official Verizon HTC One that will be heading to shelves sometime this summer. Both companies have been inundated with questions from buyers who want some closure both on the features of the device and more particularly, on the release date.

The Verizon HTC One is still without a release date.

The Verizon HTC One is still without a release date.

Recently, we’ve seen some clues emerge. First, noted HTC leakster @LLabTooFeR claimed that the device would be out three to four weeks from around June 25th, no specific date mentioned, though that puts a release squarely in July. Second, the HTC One Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update, which is thought to be coming stock on the Verizon HTC One, finally rolled out. And while that hasn’t led to an announcement, we believe that it means that something will emerge soon. And finally, we saw the Verizon HTC One leak out in a press image that was carrying a date in early September, perhaps foreshadowing the device’s release date.

Today, we have yet another possible clue. On June 17th, we saw HTC offer a deal to new HTC One buyers in the form of a $25 Google Play Credit. This deal is applicable to any carrier offering the HTC One in the United States and from any retailer that sells it, including Amazon, Walmart, Radio Shack, Target and others.

The deal was originally supposed to last until July 15th. However, the fine print has changed. Instead of July 15th, the offer has been extended to July 30th, or, the last day of the month. This is important because this seems to open up a new possible window for the Verizon HTC One release.

This may or may not be insight into the Verizon HTC One release.

This may or may not be insight into the Verizon HTC One release.

The Verizon model is listed in the drop down menu and given how old the device is, HTC would be wise to offer this deal as incentive to Verizon HTC One buyers who have waited this long to buy the device.

This wouldn’t be the first time that HTC has extended an HTC One promo due to an extended wait and it could be that the Verizon HTC One was originally supposed to be out sooner, remember we heard by the end of July, but wound up missing its original deadline.

Again, this is just a small little clue in a trail of them and it’s no guarantee that the Verizon HTC One release will arrive by July 30th. However, with no announced release date, potential clues are as good as it’s going to get for prospective Verizon HTC One buyers.

Thanks, Tanner!

Why continue to wait. Just drop $50 over at Amazon and get it on AT&T.

“Worst carrier you can think of”? Why, cause they didn’t release this phone when the other carriers did? Yeah they were very late to a party that usually only lasts 6 months these days, but they are far from the worst carrier you can think of!

It’s a phone bro, not their entire network.

Just came from the Verizon store. I asked about the hTc One. The salesman said an hTc rep was in yesterday, and promised “very soon”. He went on to say “possibly by the end of the week”. Possibly. Gettin pretty silly now. As if Verizon cares…..

So irritating. You pay for premium service and aside from the good coverage we’re not treated premium in any way shape or form. Last for the best phones. Last for updates. For God’s sake give us a SOLID date or something to go on… I hate you Verizon…. Jerks.

Colby, I am with you, 100%. I feel treated like a 5 year old, asking for a new bike. Just wait, later this summer……..When is that? Shut up and wait, stupid child……… But we pay premium at Verizon, they profit from their good coverage, thinking they can do whatever they want. I second: Jerks

Oh, I am with both of you. The bottom line is that some of us simply have to stay with VZW because of the coverage. Unfortunately, VZW knows it, hence the smug we-know-you’re-not-going-anywhere attitude. Makes me so mad I just want to scream.

TJ your point is well stated. I think way too many people who have waited for the Verizon version of the One literally freak out if Verizon does not get everything first. I have been on Verizon for 6 years now,and yes, they can be a bit pricey, however,I have had zero problems, and my bill has always been reasonable unless I have paid it late of course. You know to you who are complaining and whining,it is just a phone as TJ has said,it is NOT a matter of life and death. And,this phone will blow I Phone out of the water by far

My point to the whiners and idiots who post stupid uninformed comments,is simply that Verizon doesnt have to get every phone first. They test each of these phones first before they release them, just common sense. And,some of you say T Mobile and A T and T have had better speeds or coverage? Hogwash,I never have dropped calls on my various phones from Verizon, and on my current HTC Rezound which has been out almost 2 years now,has gotten between 25-30 megs per second download speeds, and those speed tests have been done through speedtest.net,which I have found to be a very reliable and accurate tester compared to most. So if my Rezound is getting near 30 megs download speeds, then I would wager to say the HTC One through Verizon could very well hit around 40 megs a second download speeds on 4G or higher. Now tell me some of you complainers, can T Mobile match that? Can Sprint match that? Can A T&T match that? No they cannot. I was with T Mobile several years ago and had contiuous dropped calls with them, even with a replacement phone. I dont get those dropped calls on Verizon, and Verizon, has had coverage everywhere I have been, along with a steady consistent 4-5 bars. I am beginning to wonder if people like TJ and myself are a few of the ones who actually use common sense.
