Verizon HTC One Said to Have Android 4.2.2

Published

on

The Verizon HTC One, which is now expected to arrive in the month of June, is pegged to have Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board which is exciting for prospective owners but also reveals some possibilities when it comes to a couple of other Android updates.

Verizon failed to announce the HTC One at its May 22nd launch event at CTIA in Las Vegas but that hasn’t slowed down the device’s momentum. In fact, the rumored smartphone has only managed to gain steam since CTIA, with rumors suggesting that a debut could be in the cards for sometime in the next few weeks.

Recent rumors suggest that the Verizon HTC One could finally make its way to shelves in June, possibly in late June, which could mean a release that is in close proximity to the HTC One Nexus which is arriving on the Google Play Store on June 26th.

We could see a Verizon HTC One at the Verizon announcement.

The Verizon HTC One is thought to be coming in June.

The device is thought to be a splitting image of the current HTC One though whispers suggest that there is at least one difference, at least at the moment. According to @LlabTooFeR, the device will be sporting Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, a piece of software that has yet to roll out to the HTC One variants that are currently on the market.

This is exciting for those that are interested in the Verizon HTC One when it becomes available but it also has some implications for other devices and software updates.

Android 4.3

If this is indeed true, it could mean that Android 4.3 may not be arriving until July as has been rumored. It would be extremely odd to see Verizon release a device that is immediately running outdated software so it could be that Android 4.3 won’t be coming until the middle of the summer at which point HTC and carriers like Verizon will update the HTC One.

HTC One Android 4.2 Update

What this also likely means is that an HTC One Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update is going to roll out in the month of June. Rumors have suggested that it would roll out in late May, early June, but thus far we’ve seen nothing.

It would be strange for the Verizon HTC One to get a leg up on the global version of the HTC One, at the very least, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile roll out updates for their versions of the HTC One as well. They will want to ensure that their devices are competitive.

Whether or not those theories play out remains to be seen but they are something that current HTC One owners should keep in mind as we head into the month of June.

I’m really concerned that by the time they are finally able to launch on VZW HTC will have exhausted it’s supply of the HDR mic’s.
