VIA Launches New Site: How To Be Mobile

Published

on

logo-new1VIA Technologies keeps on keeping on in the mobile space, although the majority of the coverage of late on the chips that power the Netbook segment (and others) seems to focus on Intel, as well as the new announcements and speculation about NVidia and ARM processors.

It looks like VIA is working hard to keep its name in play though and they’ve launched a new site, How To Be Mobile, that might be worth adding to your RSS feed reader or bookmarking. The slug line on the site says: “Your guide to getting the most out of your mini-notes, notebooks, and ultra-mobile devices.” There are headings for How-To Articles, Videos and you can also follow site updates via Twitter.

Check it out here.

“the majority of the coverage of late on the chips that power the Netbook segment (and others) seems to focus on Intel,” — Well, Intel did introduce the category. It follows that they’d get the coverage and explains why VIA is pushing an alternate name. I think they’ll have to push harder than this though.

I agree we DEFINITELY need to push harder, although I might argue that Asus introduced that category (or even double N or Jepsen)and of course years ago VIA made little headway with lower power laptops (yep that’s what they called them back then ;) but the cloud/broadband infrastructure wasn’t quite there yet.

Now years on Intel has an in order processor like the VIA C7-M that is low power and they are using their dominate market position to chase us back to the future.

We’ve never called them netbooks because our newer VIA Nano Processor can do much more than just surf the net, even if in terms of processing power the net is much “heavier” than it was even 2 years ago.

    Cheers,
