Viliv X70 Windows 7 Slate at CES (Video)
Viliv was at CES and in addition to showing off two Android slates, the company also demoed the X70 Windows 7 tablet, which is similar in spec to the Android models in offering a thin, attractive design and long battery life in between recharges. Viliv is boasting the X70 as the thinnest and lightest Windows-based tablet system in the world.
Unlike some other slates, such as the ASUS MeMO and the HP Slate 500, this Windows slate doesn’t offer a digitizer and will rely purely on its capacitive touchscreen and buttons to interact with Windows 7.

A Windows 7 slate without a pen digitizer is pointless.

Asus Memo has a digitizer? I believe it’s just capacitive and happens to come with a stylus.

Windows 7 just doesn’t belong on a tablet just yet. Microsoft needs to create a different version of Windows 7 for tablets…and I mean a complete redesign and not just added tools on top of the current version.

Why do so many people demand an entirely new version of Windows before Windows will be ready for the tablet space? They have obviously not used an HP Slate or other Windows based tablet. Is it as slick and glitzy as the iPad – no. Does it do a good job while maintaining 100% Windows software fidelity – absolutely. Don’t diss it if you haven’t actually used it.
