Walmart Selling the New iPad at Midnight

Published

on

Apple, along with Best Buy, Radioshack, and other retailers will start selling the new iPad at 8 a.m. tomorrow. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can head out to your local 24-hour Walmart at midnight tonight.

Walmart stores will have a limited supply of iPads, though, so be sure to get there early. The message we received only mentioned 16GB WiFi models, though the stores should hopefully have more than just the base $499 model.

Keep in mind that not all Walmart stores are 24-hour stores, so check before you go waiting outside all night. Be sure to find out where the official line is and how many iPads are in stock, so you don’t waste your time.

New iPad Buyers Guide

Walmart is the only store offering a midnight launch for the new iPad, other stores will open at 8 a.m. but will likely have lines forming much earlier. Those stores will presumably have a larger stock available, however, especially the Apple stores.

Getting to a 24-hour Walmart store should be even be faster than ordering the iPad online. You don’t have to wait for your local FedEx truck to drop off the package, which can take a long time depending on where you are on the route.

It’s strange that Walmart is the only store doing a midnight launch of the new iPad. Not even the 24-hour Apple Stores will be selling the iPad until 8 a.m. The early release could be the reason why Walmart stores only have a limited supply, or that could just be part of the agreement when Apple put the iPad into the retail giant’s stores.

Either way, good luck getting an iPad at midnight and know that the rest of us will be jealous for the next few hours.

Let us know if you line up, and where you have luck finding a new iPad.

I just went to my local Walmart and confirmed that they had a very limited number of new iPads to go on sale at 12:01am.  This store received (5) Black 16GB wi-fi only units – NO 4G units for tonight.  My experience at the Grimes, Iowa (suburb of Des Moines) Walmart may indicate that, as was implied by their announcement, Walmart will NOT be selling any 4G units on launch day.  Good luck to everyone else!
