Where is Swype for the Galaxy Nexus?

Published

on

I have been itching for Swype on my Galaxy Nexus since the launch. Unfortunately it wouldn’t work on the Galaxy Nexus or ICS for that matter. I went through a lot trying to get my fix. I have become addicted to this input style and had to have something. I shared with you all several alternatives back in December. Right after Christmas, I shared how to “unofficially” get Swype but that way has been killed off by Nuance’s legal team, I assume. All the APK links that were out on the interwebs are now dead. If you were lucky enough to get your hands on the file back then, you’re still in business. I am still in business and loving it.

Swype had been promised to be coming in late January. That date has come and gone and still no Swype for ICS and the Galaxy Nexus.

As you can see above, back on Feb 1st another promise was made. Again, where is it?

If you have been waiting on a legal, official version for all this time I commend you for your patience. You probably already know to keep your eyes on the Swype forums for details.

If you are interested in going the “unofficial” route, you can do some searches on Google for the APK but I would urge you to take caution when downloading and installing files from untrusted sources. Like I said, the folks at Swype have done a great job getting “unofficial” versions of Swype off the trusted source’s websites.

My guess is Swype will be here by the end of the week!

You can download the Flex T9 app. I got it from Amazon one day when it was the free app of the day, but I would pay the $4.99. I’m using it now for the swype feature it has and love it, especially on my GNex.
