Will the LG Revolution Beat the HTC Thunderbolt as the First 4G Phone for Verizon?

Long believed to be the first 4G LTE Android smartphone to debut on Verizon Wireless’s mobile broadband network, the HTC Thunderbolt has been plagued with numerous delays. To be fair, though, Verizon never really disclosed a specific actual launch date for the device so theoretically the phone’s non-launch at this point can’t be a delay. While HTC is sorting out whatever issues Verizon may have with the Thunderbolt, rival phone-maker LG may be speeding ahead with the LG Revolution. The phone was recently spotted at U.S. regulatory agency the FCC for approval, suggesting that a launch could come sooner than later.

Like the Thunderbolt, the LG Revolution has a 4.3-inch display and front- and rear-facing cameras. However, it is unclear what processor is inside the LG Revolution. We had a chance to play with the device at the Consumer Electronics Show and the LF Revolution proved to be a very capable and speedy device that’s responsive and fast. It either uses a single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU or a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip according to Electronista.

The reason why phones like the LG Revolution, HTC Thunderbolt, Motorola Droid Bionic, and Samsung Stealth are so important is because they support Verizon’s 4G LTE mobile broadband network. The carrier says that with 4G, performance is 10 times faster than on 3G, which means that you should be able to retrieve Google search results instantly without any wait time.

im not sure why Verizon is releasing phones that are not up to par with their original release, the Thunderbolt. im picking up a new phone tomorrow (contract up). im going with the thundbolt or the charge, probably the thunderbolt. however the charge does have a better screen and a longer lasting battery.
