Windows 7 and Vista Log On Keyboards Compared, Screenshots

image It truly is the little things that make the big difference, especially when it comes to pen and touch interfaces. The Log On keyboard in XP and Vista, while functional, where not necessarily touch friendly.

Like the Tablet PC interfaces in Windows 7, the On-Screen keyboard that appears at Log On has also undergone a complete makeover, becoming quite touch friendly. The keyboard is bigger, the letters are bigger, the letters are white on a black background, and there is a lot more space around the keys, which makes it much easier to use with fingers and pen. Well done, Microsoft.

I like the new look, though I would prefer if the letters were centered on the keys, and possibly if there was some sort of framing of the keys so the gapping wasn’t just transparent (think MacBook keyboard from above)

While I agree with Tim on the need for some slight cosmetic tweaking, I do think that it is a HUGE improvement. Very much looking forward to it.

Windows 7’s keyboard certainly looks more natural. I am curious about something. Does the function set (meaning when you click or tap the Fn key) include a num pad? Vista’s keyboard (for Tablet PC Input Panel anyway) does not.

    Hello,

I have been looking for hours for a way to enable the embedded touch keyboard on the logon screen in windows 7.

Could you kindly guide me on how to enable this.

    Thank
