Words With Friends Loses Support for Android Honeycomb

Published

on

While the details surrounding this remain murky, we can confirm that the popular Scrabble-like game,  Words With Friends, is no longer available on the Android Market for Android Honeycomb devices. And the interesting part is, Zynga’s support team apparently has no idea what’s going on.

Words With Friends

AndroidPolice first reported on the disappearance earlier today and one look at the Android Market on a Honeycomb tablet confirmed that game is no longer available. Worse off, Zynga support isn’t being helpful whatsoever:

Thank you for contacting Zynga With Friends Customer Support!

Currently, Words With Friends and Chess With Friends are only supported on Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch) and Android devices. We are working to support other devices and hope to provide access to our players using these other devices in the near future.

Uh, OK. That doesn’t really explain why the game worked two days ago with Honeycomb but  apparently now isn’t compatible with it. So, like we do with all of these mysterious stories, we want to inquire.

Can anyone see Words With Friends on the Market with their Honeycomb tablet? Does the application even work anymore? Let us know in the comments and we’ll see what we can dig up in the meantime.

G-slate not working since the mandatory update. I downloaded the older version which works fine. The upgrade pop up keeps stopping me from making moves,

Used to work. Now requires an update on my droid htc, but cannot update.

    Basically, another zinga “win.”

They will never take responsibility for any of their programming stupidity, and every person that works for zynga should commit collective suicide for their tard-like incompetence. But they won’t because their mommies all told them they were REALLY SMART and they believe it.

Um, zynga? Mommy lied. Either that or she was too stupid to know the difference.

A Dec 29 Words with Friends software “update” once again made it incompatible with tablets running Honeycomb. The game force closes every time it is opened, and uninstall-reinstall cycles don’t fix anything.
You should check out the comments in the Android Market for more detailed user complaints.
The whole point of social games like Words with Friends is to get us sad people addicted to them. Why isn’t user misery be a top priority for these people? How is it possible that Zynga has not fixed the problem in 12 days?
