Would You Buy the Rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

Published

on

Tomorrow, Samsung will take the official wrappings off of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 2, a device that has been rumored for quite some time.

Over the last several weeks, purported specifications have leaked out, painting a possible picture of the phablet sequel. The device is all but set to replace the original Galaxy Note which launched in October of 2011 and in the U.S. on AT&T in February of 2012.

No Galaxy Note 2 release date has popped up just yet, only a release window. The Galaxy Note 2 is expected to launch in October, a few weeks after Samsung makes it official.

While we don’t know the specifics, there is enough out there about the Galaxy Note 2, something that begs us to ask an important question:

Would you buy the rumored version of the Galaxy Note 2?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Rumors

Samsung has not said anything just yet but that hasn’t stopped numerous leaks from coming to the surface, maybe none as substantial as the leak we discovered last Friday coming from the Seoul Newspaper in Korea.

The publication uncovered a possible spec sheet that seems to confirm many of the rumors that have been swirling about over the last couple of weeks in regards to the Galaxy Note 2.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note supposedly will be coming with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280x720p resolution, a Exynos 4412 quad-core processor, an 8MP rear camera, 16GB and 32GB storage options, and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 could have these specs on board.

Those all back up what we’ve heard in the past except for the Jelly Bean part.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was rumored to have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board but it may have decided against that at some point. Instead, we could see a Galaxy Note with Jelly Bean out of the box.

We also see 4G LTE connectivity and a 16:9 aspect ration on the spec sheet.

note22

The Galaxy Note 2 may feature a rectangular design.

As for its design, it may feature a rectangular design so as not to conflict with any of Apple’s patents. Samsung recently lost a court case over a patent dispute that Apple had with some of its devices and the company now owes Apple upwards of $1 billion in damages.

Why I Might Buy the Rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 2

I did not own the original Samsung Galaxy Note, though, I would absolutely consider buying the rumored Galaxy Note 2.

With a overly massive HD display, a quad-core processor, 4G LTE speeds, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and all of its features, and the S-Pen, I think I could definitely make great use of it when I’m on the go.

There are a few things holding me back from making this my new smartphone from the outset.

One, American carriers. They have proven time and time again that they are awful in terms of updating their Android devices and the Galaxy Note 2 will probably be no different.

And two, the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 is rumored to have a 4-inch screen, my display sweet spot, and 4G LTE speeds. It will be extremely hard to pass it up though if there were two Android devices to do it, it would be the Galaxy Note 2 or the 2012 Nexus.

An unlocked Galaxy Note 2 might be the route I take if I decided to go down that road.

Would You Buy the Rumored Galaxy Note 2?

So, if Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 2 tomorrow, and everything we mentioned here is on board, would you buy it?

Is it just me or does the rectangle design with sharp edges look bad? and also apart from the bigger screen what other major updated features are there? I don’t really understand all the specs but with the same camera and lower resolution is it really going to be that good?
I’v had an Iphone 4 for the last 2 years and am looking to switch allegiance as i feel the Iphone is getting predictable.
If i was to get the original note, would it come with a Jelly Bean update later this year?

Yes I will. I got the first Note and I love it. Although I dont like that I had to give up one of my lines on Sprint to get it on AT&T. I expect for the 2nd generation to appear on all carriers so once Sprint gets the Note 2 Im jumping back. Btw, I got the Note 10.1 yesterday and love it. Looking foward to seeing tonights event.
