Looking forward to your review, and I hope you'll do an InkShow on the HP 1000 as well.

Is that some kind optical illusion or did you use a 5-year old's hands in that second picture to make the keyboard look larger. It's not like any other netbook's keyboard I've ever seen, it actually looks comfortable.

It's unfortunate that it's the Windows XP version, I was hoping to see a more in depth review of HP's Mobile Internet Experience, the Ubuntu based netbook OS, but I guess that it still hasn't been released.
    Maybe later.

I took a look at HP Mini 1000 in Costco today, and I'm quite disappointed by its LCD display, kind of blury if you ask me. Not sure if it's the demo unit or XP's problem, but my acer aspire one has a much sharper display.

That looks simply devine!!!!! I love the way that they keys look like they bleed into one another. I love the smooth look too!!!!!
Okay, I'm so ready to get this thing started!!!!

Does it have a track stick above the mouse pad?

I'm interested on your take of the build quality. I've been through two of these, and both had issues with the glass separating from the plastic display housing around the LCD. The second one I had also had an issue with the internal housing pushing out the battery so it didn't sit flush. Ultimately, i ended up with a Lenovo S1, which is by far the best netbook i've had (I've been through too many…)

I haven't seen the Mini 1000 yet, but I would urge anyone looking for a netbook with a great keyboard to consider the Samsung NC10. I got one last week, and the keyboard is as good as any sub-3 pound notebook I've ever used, and I say that a longtime owner and supporter of the Fujitsu P1610 (which, admittedly, has a pretty lousy keyboard, despite its other charms). The Samsung has sharp screen, as well, gets terrific battery life of well over five hours and the overall build quality is superb. I haven't seen every netbook under the sun, so I hesitate to pronounce it king of the hill, but I certainly can vouch for it being an overall excellent experience.

no trackstick – that is a button to turn the trackpad on / off

I got to see the HP Mini 1000 at Costco yesterday and I do have to say that the keyboard is very good to type on. Keys are very big and you pretty much can type like a regular keyboard. It seems to be built pretty good. Looks nice but should have a bigger hard drive for the price.

Please mention the wideset angle the screen and keyboard can extend. I'd aslo like to know the heat and noise level.

those are my wife's hands. She is a petite person, though. In my review, you'll see my hands on it. The keys are very big and comfortable, though, and I had absolutely no trouble typing on it.
