GMail Makes Using Labels Easier, Sorta, Kinda

Published

on

gmai GMail has made an ‘improvement’ to make using Labels (think folders) easier for organizing your email. Essentially, your most used labels now show up on the left of the screen above the Chat list and below the Inbox, Sent Mail, etc list. You can now also drag and drop emails onto the Labels (like I said, think folders) or drag a label onto an email message. This is being met with all sorts of acclaim and I guess deservedly so.

However, I had grown quite fond of a Google Labs add-in called Right Side Label that allowed me to have all of my labels in view at the top of the page. While I could drag and drop, I could get a quick bird’s eye view of what label had mail waiting to be read.

I guess we call that progress.

i don’t really use labels. i don’t get enough mail that needs “organization” to use them.

but i wasn’t really too happy with the sudden change to the label system. but i guess it’s ok since i just choose to “hide all” anyway.
