Intel’s Quad-Display Touch Notebook Concept

Intel’s showing its latest notebook design concept here at IDF 2009. It features not one, not two, but THREE mini touch-enabled displays in addition to a primary 15.4-inch display.

The three displays above the keyboard are seen as one wide display by Windows. You can keep tabs on your content in one of the three touch-screens and flick them up on to the primary display.

    interesting how they use “flicks” to move things between screens.

    Neat idea!

    But wouldn’t it make more sense to just have one long screen, and if separation is needed, to just do it graphically instead of physically? This way if wider content needs to be displayed (Like when he was shuffling the albums) as many “screens” as needed can easily be merged by just removing the graphical separation. Then, when multiple screens are needed again, they can again be separated by just graphical means.

      One long one would make more sense. Intel said the reason they used three was because of cost. The three displays are pretty standard issue. One long one would require a completely custom fabrication for the design concept.
