    Very interesting and educational video. Goed to show how apparently the adult mindset to technology is different to the young and teenagers. Also insightful as to which audience the industry is listening to. I guess we have to start acting more like teenagers to get our attention and needs in (solutions in ) technology.

    Probably very informative to people who have no idea about how consumer electronics gets to the retailer. I was involved with 3D graphics chip manufacturers back in the mid-90s, I found the numbers he cited interesting. Back then for add-in graphics cards, the price markup over the BOM costs was more like 100%, instead of the $60/40% he mentioned for that 7″ web/media tablet. 1 year from available silicon to shipping products sounds pretty fast for something as complex as a web tablet, though I suppose they assume software already available.

    Very interesting report.

    You can see very clearly how MS is being pushed to one side. Why oh why is MS not leading the wave with one of thier OS’s?

    I don’t use my desktop any more, my wife doesn’t use her desktop any more, and I wonder how long will it be, before we are saying “I don’t use my laptop any more”.

    A friend has just bought a netbook for €199, with Ubunto, and he is delighted with it, and has told me “I only use my laptop now for the odd thing”. And he is a techie (like me).

    Light, fast, cheap, and with a browser. Which one? Does anyone really care?
