ThinkPad X100e: Entry-level Ultraportable

The ThinkPad X100e was announced at CES 2010 and is now the most affordable ThinkPad available. Starting at just $449, the Thinkpad X100e is an ultraportable business users, especially current ThinkPad users, will appreciate. It uses a standard ThinkPad AC adapter, has the no-noncense black ThinkPad ID, TrackPoint and a full-size keyboard.

At $449, the X100e comes with 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 6-cell battery, a single-core 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo processor and ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics. The 6-cell battery is rated to last for up to five hours. A 3-cell battery is listed in the X100e’s press release, but is not yet available to order. I wouldn’t recommend ordering a 3-cell battery when it becomes available without grabbing a 6-cell battery since the smaller one can only keep the ThinkPad X100e going for two hours on a single charge.
