Michael Dell on video with the Mini 5, due “in a few months”

Michael Dell of Dell Computers (duh) was caught out in the cold at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland with nothing but a Dell Mini 5, a.k.a., the Streak, to keep his hands warm. I bet they were quite toasty because the device looks pretty hot. No demo of the functionality, but he was swiping like lightning through home screens. More importantly, Mike Arrington put him on the spot about availability. Here’s the word from TechCrunch.

“…Mr. Dell here has it and says it’s coming ‘in a few months,’ we seem to have a confirmation that the Mini 5 will be reaching our shores sometime soon.”

There you go. At CES, Dell reps could not confirm that it would ever be released, but now either we’ll see it by summer or Michael Dell’s pants are on fire (although that might be just to combat the cold).

Contrast Apple’s superior marketing to Dell’s virtually non-existent marketing.

Looks similar to Viliv S5 but less interesting (which Amazon now also started selling). Unless it’s a phone I rather have S5 running on Windows 7 (or XP) than Android US for compability reasons. And S5 does run up to 10 hours (I get 5-6 hours on HD MP4 video with wireless on).

Regarding Apple’s superior marketing to be fair the media creates the hype for them (and I still see nothing innovative or superior with the clunky iPad).
