PCWorld is linking to an HP catalog page that sure looks like it is for the HP Slate. Called the HP Slate 500, the page says it is running Windows 7 Premium, has a 9.4 inch screen, has both pen and touch input. Another link mentioned in the PCWorld article says that the HP Slate 500 is running a 1.6GHz processor.
It all looks quasi official and I’m guessing the button got pushed a bit early on this one. But given that we’ve been hearing about PalmPad trademarks and other HP Slate news of late, who knows.

What I find interesting is that the HP catalog page lists:
WHAT’S IN THE BOX: headphones
nothing else….some interesting headphones
Is it 8.9-inch screen? Seems to be what the web site says.
It will be cool to see specs.
Pen support is HUGE!
At 1.6GHz I would say atom N455, though the N550 would have been fantastic.
I’m just concerned about the screen size: hope there will be an 11-inch version in the future.
Please note, these specs are exactly what was revealed in HP internal documents before the project was shelved and/or delayed. The catalog entry is a new find, but the entry doesn’t share anything new, except possibly that it will come with headphones.
There is 11 models and the official name (HP Slate 500-1000 series) on Partsurfer (http://www.italico.tabletpc.it/2010/07/hp-slate-serie-500-1000-il-tablet-pc.html). If the tablet is on Partsurfer, it means that it will be available during the autumn.
