7-Inch Acer Iconia Tab A100 Launching in August, Priced to Hit the Sweet Spot

The much delayed Acer Iconia Tab A100 will be launching this August according to retailers. The dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2-powered 7-inch slate will run Android 3.2 Honeycomb, a first for the 7-inch tablet category, along with a price point of $300, which will make the Iconia Tab A100 one of the most full-featured tablet with one of the most affordable price on the market today.

The $300 price tag will be $200 cheaper than both the Android-powered HTC Flyer and also the Research in Motion BlackBerry PlayBook, both of which also have the same screen size and 1024 X 600 rsolution as the Iconia Tab A100; the HTC Flyer differs in that it supports a digital pen for select application usage.

I’ve always been a fan of the 7-inch screen size as it affords both increased usability compared to a smaller phone while at the same time retaining the portability factor. The Iconia Tab A100’s competitive price point may make Android Honeycomb more attractive to the masses and will put downward pricing pressure on other hardware makers.

The Iconia Tab A100 is slated for an early August release.
