T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9900 Coming Soon, But Without Key Features

Published

on

While we’ve gotten the official details regarding Sprint and Verizon’s version of the new BlackBerry Bold, we’re still waiting on word about AT&T and T-Mobile’s Bold 9900. We have a feeling we’ll be seeing AT&T’s on or around August 21st and we’ve seen a rumored August 31st release date for T-Mobile’s device but it appears that we might even see it sooner than that.

A leaked document from TMoNews indicates that T-Mobile is expecting the Bold 9900 to launch “soon.” August 31st is soon as is tomorrow. At the very least, this is a good sign that things are in motion and we won’t see any delays.

Not everything is sundaes and rainbows though.

The document also suggests that the Bold 9900 will arrive without mobile hotspot support, Wi-Fi calling or UMA. If that’s true, that puts T-Mobile’s device at an extreme disadvantage and if it too costs $250 like the rest of the new Bold devices, I don’t see this launch doing well. It’s likely that these features will come in a future software update but nothing is guaranteed right now.

Let’s just hope T-Mobile makes some sort of pledge on launch day or very soon after and then follows through.

Would you buy a T-Mobile Bold 9900 without those three features?

I  paid $23.88 for an i Pad 2 32-GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic

Lumiix GF 1 Camera that we got for $ 38.41 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I

will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I

also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 635 which only cost me $ 61.74 to

buy. Here is the website we use to get it al from,

No UMA, no way.  Its the only way i can use my phone in many locations with ANY carrier.
Staying with the 9700 for now.   Very upset.

Those features are the only reason I’d go with T-Mobile. If I can’t get UMA, I’d go with a carrier with better coverage in the US. And my next phone will have WiFi hotspot capabilities. If this phone doesn’t have that, it won’t be my next phone.

Not a chance. I already have a bold 9730, and had every intention of upgrading… Until now. No uma??? I was really only going to make the jump because of mobile hotspot, and with neither feature, I’ll wait it out. What a joke.

T-Mobile has to be nuts! Why would they market out features that make them different from the rest of the competition – especially as they have been trying to ‘catch up’ to the offerings of the 21st century.

Absolutely not!  UMA is the whole reason I came from AT&T to T-Mobile… Its the only reason I have coverage in many areas without coverage… I would leave T-Mobile in a heartbeat without this feature…. Its the only thing that sets T-Mobile apart from the competition.  They must be nuts to shoot themselves in the foot like this.
No UMA and I’m out the door like that…
