Apple Reportedly Loses Another Unreleased iPhone

Published

on

CNET is reporting that Apple has apparently lost another unreleased iPhone and you’ll never guess where it was supposedly lost at. A bar. This comes just over a year after the Cupertino-based company lost an iPhone 4 prototype at a bar in Redwood City, California, a prototype that eventually ended up in the hands of Jason Chen over at Gizmodo.

This time around, it appears that the device was left in a bar in San Francisco, a place called Cava22. And while this definitely reeks of a publicity stunt, the report backs up the claims with several details regarding the lost device.

It seems the phone was lost in late July and it sparked a subsequent search by Apple security and Apple representatives soon contacted the San Francisco Police Department stating that the “the device was priceless and the company was desperate to secure its safe return.”

Apple apparently was able to track the phone to a house in the Bernal Heights neighborhood in San Francisco and confronted a man about the stolen item. The man disavowed all knowledge, even when Apple offered a cash reward, no questions asked.

Since then, the mysterious iPhone may have been sold for $200 on Craigslist but as of yet, it hasn’t popped its head above the surface.

Let’s play Sherlock Holmes for a second shall we? This seems extremely fishy considering the fact that Apple has reportedly been transporting the next iPhone to carriers under lock and key.

Apple also loves killing the buzz of competitors.

And guess what?

The Samsung Galaxy S II launched last night. Perfect time for Apple to get back into the news. Still, this is ridiculously bad press and an even more ridiculous scenario so it’s still very possible that Apple could really be dealing with another drunk engineer.

Consider us skeptical.
