iPhone 5 Announcement On for October 4th, Release Date Close Behind

Published

The iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled by Apple on October 4th at a media event which will include our first look at the iPhone 5 and a solid iPhone 5 release date.

Update: October 13th is looking like a possible iPhone 5 release date due to early iPhone upgrade offers on AT&T.

According to AllThingsD, Apple’s new CEO Tim Cook will take the stage for the first time as CEO to show off the iPhone 5, announce the availability of iOS and the official launch of iCloud.

This rumor lines up with the previous rumors of an iPhone 5 event, and with a mid October iPhone 5 release date on Verizon and AT&T. We may also see Sprint CEO Dan Hesse join Tim Cook on stage to announce the iPhone 5 on Sprint.

As it turns out, our expectation of an iPhone 5 even on October 5th was off by a bit, and as John Paczkowski of AllThingsD points out, these plans could change at any time.

While Apple could certainly change its plans anytime, sources said that the October 4 date has been selected by the company to showcase the iPhone 5. Sources added that the plan is now to make the new device available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement

Tim Cook is expected to announce the iPhone 5 release date on October 4th.

This will be a chance for Tim Cook to prove his on stage presence and excite a world of buyers for Apple’s latest iPhone. The Apple Stock prices have already reached record highsunder Cook’s watch, but investors will surely be watching on October 4th to see if Cook can spin the iPhone in the same league as Steve Jobs.

Jobs is known for his on stage presence and ability to pitch products we didn’t even know we needed. His presentation style has helped push the iPhone and the iPad to their current successes.

A gifted pitchman is no replacement for products that don’t work, but Jobs was able to help buyers envision how they would use these new products and why these products were better than the competition without delving into the nitty gritty specs.
