CableJive dockBoss+ Review: Use iPhone Dock Accessories with Android

Published

on

I’ve recommended a couple of CableJive adapters before. These adapters allow Android phone and tablet users to plug into Apple Dock Connector speaker peripherals, but the CableJive dockBoss+ is the first to bring both charging and audio to the table via a micro-USB-to-Apple Dock Connector adapter with a stereo 3.5mm jack that also sends audio through the connection to the dock connector enabled speakers. With the popularity of the iPhone, you’ll find tons of iPhone or iPod speakers that you couldn’t use before. Now you can and the connecting gives you sound just as good as if you were plugging in an Apple product designed for the docking speaker system.

If you switched from an iPhone to a Android phone or from an iPad to an Android tablet, this little adapter is a must have. You can keep using your accessories for the iPhone while using your Android device. It will work with any device that uses a micro-USB charging connection along with a 3.5mm stereo jack.

In my tests the adapter works great, sounds great and charges without any problems. The adapter fits my iHome iP46 and the iHome iB969 charging station without a hitch. CableJive says it even charges with old Firewire dock connectors. With 2.5 feet of cable its long enough or most needs.

The cables and connectors seems sturdy enough to stand up to normal use. I recommend them for anyone needing to convert their iPhone/iPod Touch or iPad accessories for use with any phone or tablet using a 3.5mm stereo jack and a micro-USB port.

I do bristle at paying $29.99 for a cable (from CableJive), but it’s cheaper than replacing all those accessories.

Pros

  • Good build quality
  • Sounds good
  • Connectors fit well

Cons

  • Little pricy
