Speaking at Mashable’s Media Summit today, AT&T’s Senior Vice President of Communications Larry Solomon today confirmed that the carrier would be bringing its 4G LTE network to New York City in the near future.

As it stands, AT&T’s 4G LTE network is currently available in a mere five cities across the U.S., a list that includes Chicago, Atlanta, San Antonio Dallas, and Houston. Ma Bell’s next roll out is scheduled to take place on November 6th when the carrier will be lighting up Boston, Washington, D.C, Baltimore, and Athens, Georgia with its high speed network.

By the end of 2011, AT&T hopes to have its network rolled out to 15 different markets covering over 70 million customers.

Solomon didn’t confirm whether or not NYC would be one of the cities seeing the service in 2011 but we’ll take his “very soon” comment to mean that there is a very good possibility of that happening.

AT&T’s first 4G LTE smartphones, the HTC Vivid and the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, will launch on November 6th.
