iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Complete for iPhone 4, iPad, & iPod Touch

Hot on the news of untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak success on the iPod touch 3G, we can share major progress on an iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for many other devices.

iPhone hacker pod2g has been toiling away at the first real jailbreak for iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1.

An untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak is great news for average users that are excited about an iPhone jailbreak, because it allows the iPhone to be restarted when it is not connected to a computer without lost access.

iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak List

Pod2g shared late last night that he had completed the code for the following devices, bringing us closer to an untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak.

  • jailbreak appsiPhone 4
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPod Touch 4G
  • iPad 1
  • Apple TV 2

While there is no known release date for the untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak, with this speedy process, we could see something before the end of the year — if we are lucky.

Before You Update

It is safe to update your iPhone or iPad listed above to iOS 5.0.1 via an over the air update, and still be able to jailbreak your iPhone when this is released.

Before you update though, you should back up your iOS 5 signature hash blobs with iFaith so that you can downgrade to iOS 5 in case you need to downgrade. You can watch the video below to learn more about iFaith and blobs.

iPhone 4S Jailbreak Status

Unfortunately, there is no word on the iPhone 4S or iPad 2 jailbreak. These devices use a new Apple A5 processor, which requires a different jailbreak hack to work. There has been progress on an iPhone 4S jailbreak, but it is not ready for public release.

      Absolutely NONE of the paid jailbreaks work at all. You’re either paying for “guides” that tell you how to jailbreak a device (which the info is readily available online) or a program that does nothing except look like it’s running. It’s basically a dead program showing a progress bar but nothing is actually being done to the phone. Don’t get sucked into these fake sites. A real jailbreak will ALWAYS be free.

    Do something to iPad 2 . It have been released for 9 months and lucky 4.3.3 jailbreak only come out. Now waiting for iPad 3 and jailbreak come out iPad 2 for only two kind of version. So about iPad 3? A5 chip jailbreak once and A6 chip no jailbreak :(

    be patient people! these guys work proper hard on such a difficult thing, they’re are trying to find an exploit that a major company such as apple have missed, it’s a major task, and now progress has been made it won’t be long now. I applaud the hackers patience and skill! nice one!
