After being on store shelves for just under a week, Verizon Wireless is already beginning to push out a minor software update for the LG Spectrum, a phone that sports dual-core processing power, a 4.5-inch 720p HD IPS display, and support for 4G LTE. The Spectrum is positioned as a successor to the LG Revolution, which was the third 4G LTE smartphone to launch on Verizon’s network. The new update fixes some early Netflix compatibility issue, and it appears that the the over-the-air update does not add any new functionality to the phone.
It’s unclear why a full firmware software update was required on the LG Spectrum, rather than an app update for the Netflix app. The Spectrum’s predecessor, the LG Revolution, was among the first devices that were publicly demonstrated with Netflix support.
The update is being pushed out automatically over the air and users should begin seeing a notification to download the update on their devices once its ready. Otherwise, to manually check for the update, users can go into the settings menu of their LG Spectrum and see if the update is available.
