iPad 3 Release Date Pegged for March 16th

While we’re fairly certain that Apple is going to be announcing its next-generation tablet – presumably called either the iPad 3 or the iPad HD, on March 7th, we’re still unsure about when the actual iPad 3 release date might be. We’ve heard some rumblings about a possible release during the week of March 11th and some new evidence has emerged that indicates that a launch might take place on March 16th.

The evidence is not a leaked image or screenshot, instead, that release date comes from the rumored opening of a new Apple Store in Houston, Texas.

iPad 3 Release Date Pegged for March 16th

Read: Best Buy would be getting its shipments of the new iPad on March 9th leaving that day and March 10th as possible release dates. We also speculated that the retailer could just be gearing up for a launch during the week of March 11th and at this point, that seems more likely.

So your contention is that Apple would delay release and potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in income to impress the people around a store in Houston, Texas.

    Gotcha.  Solid reporting.

Apple will make hundreds of millions of dollars regardless of when they release this thing. My contention is that Apple releases things in a very strategic, methodical way. Last year, they released the iPad 2 nine days after launch with no pre-order. Seemed to work out well. So it’s possible (that’s the keyword, Derek, possible) that they’ll do the same here. And I have no idea what you mean by delay since there is no announced release date.

Who Cares.. The I pad Will Be the Same Old IOS Device, With a Couple of Minor Hardware Updates  that Aren’t Really Worth The 600.00 to 1000.00 price Tag.. This is because Of one simple fact:Developers create apps for the largest installed base.  That is the old iPad 1!
Nobody will create apps that take advantage of the faster processor, because they would be missing out on selling those apps to the largest installed “iPad / Ipod touch” base.

Now we will see what Apple is made of! Now, their challenge is to Innovate without sacrificing backwards compatibility!    I Am going for Windows 8! The consumer preview looks great, and there is actually hardware level competition, So its not the apple mandated “any hardware you like as long as its ours!”
