AT&T Family Data Plan Coming Soon

It appears that AT&T family data plans might be rolling out in the near future.

In comments made to CNET, AT&T’s CEO Ralph de la Vega seemed to hint that the carrier’s highly anticipated family data plans might actually be rolling out sooner rather than later. De la Vega said that the carrier has a firm grasp over the type of plan his company plans to offer to consumers and that the carrier plans to start offering family style data plans soon.

His remarks come shortly after Verizon Wireless announced that it would be offering family data plans sometime this summer.

Shared family data plans allow users to pull and share from a bucket of monthly data. This will allow for consumers to budget their data usage better while helping to cut down on costs.

This type of data plan appeals to those that have multiple devices on one account.

Unfortunately, de la Vega did not elaborate on when the carrier might roll out the new data plans. Verizon hasn’t made any specific release clear either but the carrier is apparently pulling its double data 4G LTE plans at the beginning of June which seems to point to that month as being a possibility.

Verizon has been rumored to be gearing up to charge $9.99 per device on a family data plan while details surrounding AT&T’s plan remains unknown. The plans should not be too far off from each other in terms of data and in terms of price though.

In any event, it appears that these plans aren’t too far off and consumers who own multiple devices including smartphones and tablets should be getting excited about the prospects of finally being able to get on a shared data plan.
